Equality Statement and Objectives

Our Vision

Through the quality of the education we provide, the example of Christ, and the teachings of the Bible, we aim to value and develop the whole child to reach their full potential, with limitless aspirations and a lifelong passion for learning

Value – Enrich – Aspire

We aim for our children’s lives to be enriched through their learning and development as part of our school community, and for them to be confident, resourceful, and eager learners. Through trust in our own abilities, the love of others, and perseverance, we will have the courage to aspire to be the best that we can be in all areas of learning and life. Through respect we will value the opinions of everyone and recognise that everyone is unique, and made in the image of God. Through compassion and with God’s love and support we will enrich the lives of everyone in the school community and those we meet along the way by caring and supporting each other; by being thoughtful and passionate about what we say and do, and enabling both adults and children to flourish.

At English Bicknor C of E Primary School, we provide all pupils with the opportunity to succeed and to reach the highest level of personal achievement. We believe that equality at our school should permeate all aspects of school life and is the responsibility of every member of the school and wider community. Every member of the school community should feel safe, secure, valued and of equal worth.

The school is committed to promoting the welfare and equality of all its staff, pupils and other members of the school community. To achieve this, the school has established the following objectives:

  • Monitor changes to the curriculum to ensure they result in good outcomes for all pupils, including all vulnerable groups.

  • To provide all pupils with the opportunity to succeed and aspire so they can reach the highest level of personal achievement.

  • Providing opportunities for pupils to appreciate their own culture and celebrate the diversity of other cultures.

  • We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, sexual orientation, age or socio-economic background.

  •  Every member of the school community should feel safe, secure, valued and of equal worth.

  • To ensure reading is at the heart of the curriculum so that all pupils, including vulnerable groups, have access to a broad and rich education.

  • As part of our Christian vision, values and ethos, we aim to maintain a culture of inclusion in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully in school life.

  • We tackle discrimination through the positive promotion of equality, by challenging bullying and stereotypes and by creating an environment which is based upon respect for all.
