Remit of Governing Body
The Governors are ultimately responsible for the effective and efficient running of the school but they delegate the daily management of the school to the Head Teacher.
Specifically, they are responsible for:
- The strategic direction of the school,
- Holding the school to account for its standards and provision, and
- Supporting and challenging the Head Teacher.
In order to work as effectively as possible, the Governors have established three main committees:
- Curriculum and Standards (FGB)
These committees meet at least once every term, which allows for more detailed discussion and monitoring of progress on particular areas of school management. They are the executive arm of the full Governing Body (FGB) and, as such, report to the FGB at its termly meeting. Committee members are involved in decisions on the curriculum, the budget, recruitment and selection of staff, maintenance and improvement of premises, health and safety issues and general discipline.
Non-confidential minutes of previous meetings are available through the School office, as are copies of approved School policies. Meeting dates, Governing Body officers and committee and Panel membership are decided for the year in advance at the first FGB meeting of the academic year.
